What applications can you see in using blogs/RSS feeds in your library?
In your opinion, do blogs require responsibility on the part of the author, as well as the responder?

Thanks for coming up with great discussion questions. I got a lot of great ideas reading everybody’s blogs on the academic uses of blogs.

To be honest, I think that it would be helpful to use it for teachers and students to respond to issues that they may have using the library. I think that someone would feel comfortable using the blog to express their opinions freely as oppose to telling the librarian directly to their face what the problem is . I think blogging can be used in this area.

I do think it is the responsibility of the author of the blog to make sure that the information that is shared in the blog is factual and is not bias. Moreover, because we learn from each other, the author of the blog needs to mindful of their personal reflections and how it can impact another. Although we are free to express our opinions using blogging, there needs to be guidelines in place.

The applications I see for using blogging are as follows:
Teachers and students can share how they feel about the library without feeling intimidated by the librarian. I think that blogging can be used for giving feedback to the library about their services and what improvements can be made.

I do think that the author needs to be responsible for what they are putting on the blog for others to read. The information they share should be factual and free of vulgar language especially in an educational setting. I am aware that blogging is for sharing personal opinions but their needs to be guidelines in place to make sure that it is done correctly and is free of bias and disrespectful comments.
